POWER SUPPLY

Terengganu generates some 1900 MW of electricity from 3 power plants. More than 2/3 is being exported to other states of Peninsular Malaysia through the National Grid.

Power Plants are:

  • Paka Power Station TNB 900 Mw
  • Paka IPP Station YTL 600 Mw
  • Kenyir Hydro Station TNB 400 Mw

WATER SUPPLY

  • Terengganu Waterworks Department is responsible for production and destribution. Has installed capacity of some 75.3 mgd. Treated potable water.
  • Industrial Water Production plant upstream Paka River under construction. Has capacity of 50 mgd.
  • Terengganu has plentiful potential water supply sources namely Dungun, Terengganu, and Besut Rivers and KENYIR LAKE.

ROADS

  • Terengganu is served by Two Trunk Federal Roads. One running parallel to or along the coast connecting all the major towns of Cukai, Kertih, Paka, Dungun, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, Sri Langkap, Permaisuri and Jerteh. The other transverse the Winterland through Ketengah or Central Terengganu Regional Development Authority, i.e through agricultural development schemes like Oil Palms, rubber, fruits, horticulture etc.
  • The 2nd Trunk Road is scheduled to be upgraded/transformed into New Kuala lumpur – Kuala Terengganu Expressway…a Federal Government commited Project Scheduled Completion 2005.
  • In Terengganu roads even to remote settlers are metalled/Tarmac.

AIRPORTS

Major industrial Areas and Town are served by 3 airports connecting to Kuala Lumpur:-

  • KUALA TERENGGANU AIRPORT              -  4-5  flights/day
  • KERTIH AIRPORT                                -  2-3 flights/day
  • KUANTAN AIRPORT                             -  5 flights/day

 

SEAPORTS

A.KEMAMAN PORT

  • This is Malaysian Deepwater general purpose Industrial Port. Deepest in the region and can handle vessels up to 150,000dwt.
  • She has five (5) terminals:

    East Wharf

    -648 metres in length.
    -present capacity of 6.84 mil. Tpy.

    Supply Base

    -360 metres with capacity of 1 mil.Tpy.

    Lpg Export T.

    -capacity of 110, 000 cu. M/d. or 1 mil. Tpy.

    West Wharf

    -510 metres in length.

    Liquid Bulking Terminal

    -240 metres.

  • Depths ranging from 14 metres at Supply Base to 18 metres at East Wharf.

B.KERTIH PORT

This marine port was constructed and is managed by Petronas subsidiary company. It is a dedicated port for liquid petrochemical products.

  • It is planned for 5 berths of which 3 has been completed/operational
  • Vessel capacity ranging from 7,000 to 30,000 dwt can be accomodated.

TOXIC WASTE TREATMENT AND RECYCLING PLAN

  • It collects, treat and recycle toxic wastes
  • Initial Capacity : 25000 ton/year
  • Status - Eia Report just approved by  DOE
  • Approved to be located in Telok Kalong Industrial Estate

Industrial estates to accommodate manufacturing activities has been developed  in all districts
